 Impossible Construction - Shoddy Instructions August 31, 2010

On a Scale of pretty I'll give it a four stars. The rest of the review I would rate at less than one star if possible. I have never put something together that required so many tiny parts to be assembled in the manner that they were, and I have assembled dressers, beds, desks ect. The instructions were sketchy at best, many times we had to guess what was going on, even with the written instructions.
The BIGGEST problem was by far the construction of the drawer walls, the screw holes did not line up and it was impossible with two people to screw them in right, it took hours to do this portion of the dresser. Not to mention that fitting the drawers into the dresser was a nightmare, pinched fingers, hammers used to wedge the drawers in, the spacing just wasn't enough.
In addition, this is the second time we received the item, the first time an entire board was cracked in half and it was the wrong color. I love Amazon, but next time I'm shopping for furniture I will remember that Walmart or Target have better quality items.

Alright, I knew this was cheap and thought I could just make some improvements to it myself but there's not much you can do with it. Most people complained about the drawers being cheaply made and they were correct. The material they used for the bottoms of the drawers is the same flimsy material used for the backing of the dresser. You might be able to put two articles of clothing in each drawer, any more than that it will probably fall through.
The drawer fronts are only edge-banned on the top and sides, they must not have had enough for the bottoms. The drawer fronts are also the fronts of the drawer boxes, FYI. (I should point out that I used to work for a cabinet mfg. company and figured to just replace the drawer boxes with some better ones but they would be awfully small drawers if I did.)
This dresser is very small as well. I measured out the dimensions with a tape measure before ordering and thought it would do the trick but it won't.
Overall I am disappointed in myself for placing this order. My next step is to head out the the local furniture stores to find a better suitable dresser.
 lot of work to assemble, some flaws August 24, 2010

- bought platform bed, this dresser, headboard and side table
- some damage on top plank during trip from east coast to west coast, but not too bad
- if you think the south shore platform bed is hard to assemble, you must try this dresser :-) (not very hard, but takes several hours)
- all slides are low friction plastic (no rollers). These are press fit into the drawer sides, it takes a LOT of effort to hammer 24 pieces into the wood
- the slides have to be more or less perfectly assembled for the drawers to slide properly in my view, the drawers slide fine, but only just (I added some teflon dry film lubricant, but it did not make a huge difference, the friction exists due to tight fit)
- overall, looks good, instructions are decent, but assembly is somewhat complex (a mechanically minded DIY person saying this)
- will deduct one star for slight damage and the ridiculous work of hammering 24 plastics drawer slide pieces

It's a very nice dresser, especially for the price. It took about 3 hours with two of us putting it together. It's a solid piece that will definitely hold up for years. We've even purchased the 5 drawer dresser since this purchase.

I really like this piece! I also bought 2 nightstands.
It is very easy to assemble, clear instructions.
It is pretty sturdy and look great.
OF COURSE, you get what you pay for, but for the money, it is the best quality I've seen.
